What PM Surya Ghar is

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a central government scheme that pays a direct subsidy on rooftop solar installations. The stated goal is to bring more than one crore Indian households onto self-generated power.

How much subsidy you get

The subsidy depends on system size. Up to 2 kW, it is Rs 30,000 per kW. Between 2 and 3 kW, an additional Rs 18,000 per kW applies. Above 3 kW, the total is capped at Rs 78,000.

Who can apply

Any Indian homeowner with their own property, a valid electricity connection and a structurally sound roof. There is no income limit.

How to apply

Register on the national portal, enter your monthly consumption, choose an MNRE-empanelled installer, apply to your DISCOM for net metering, and receive the subsidy by direct bank transfer after installation and inspection.
